Yesterday I had planned to drive over to Fujairah in the evening to take some night shots. Unfortunately the weather over there was so stormy and sandy that I wouldn’t pull out my camera. Instead we went to eat something. Checking the Zomato App on the currently under review being Huawei Ascend P8 we found out about this Restaurant. So we stopped by.
It is a simple little Restaurant, though nicely decorated and cozy, and it offers basically Filipino food, but not only. You can get Lasagne or Burgers as well. We ordered the Fried Calamaris, Sizzling Mushrooms, Sizzling Tender Tips and Lumpian Sariwa paired with three portions of rice and a bottle of water.
It did not take long until the order arrived and the size of the dishes was just huge. It did not that big on the pictures and I was happy to have not ordered more as planned in the beginning. The Fried Calamari had been very good and the vinegar dip in combination tasted really good to my surprise. Usually I would have not combined this but it is really good. The Sizzling Mushrooms had been very tasty as well and the Tender Tips were amazing. The Lumpian Sariwa is a Filipino vegetable dish composed of different vegetables with a soft (unfried) wrapper. I have not tried this by myself but I was told this was perfect too. We had been three persons but the food served was still too much for us.
Value for money wise we have paid 89AED for all the above mentioned which is extremely reasonable for the amount and quality of food we got. A unplanned visit with a very surprising good find of a Restaurant. If you are in Fujairah and you fancy Filipino food, make sure to pass by!

Last night we passed by Papa Murphy’s Pizza in the Dubai Investment Parks, located within the ENOC Petrol station over there. I had never recognized it being there, but it might as well just have opened up.
It looked much bigger than any other Papa Murphy’s branch I had seen before and as we had been hungry anyways we walked in. We ordered a large half Margherita and half Pepperoni as well as a cheesy Garlic bread and a coke and a water bottle.
There was plenty of seat options in the Restaurant so we choose a cozy corner couch. The Ambiance is really clean and a bit American Diner styled. You can watch your Pizza being made and thrown into the oven, everything is very transparent which I really like.
The Pizza was ready in no time and as well was the cheesy Garlic bread. The Garlic bread is tasty but not really exciting as the one we had at Paavo’s. The Pizza was very good, the Pepperoni on it was just right and cheese super tasty. We had Papa Murphy’s Pizza before and I really favor them over Pizza Hut and Domino’s. Overall it is a nice Pizza place where you can get the Pizza done as per your wish or choose from a selection given. The Staff is very friendly and welcoming and the location is not far from us so certainly on the list of visiting again.
Value for money wise we paid 66AED for the above mentioned which is a fair price in my opinion. You wouldn’t really pay less anywhere else either.

This Restaurant is probably one of the biggest hidden gems around. Have you ever been to Masdar City in Abu Dhabi or heard of it? You are not alone, me neither. But yesterday we passed by Masdar City close to the Abu Dhabi Airport. Main Reason for me was to try out their driver-less point to point personal rapid transport system that brings you from the parking to Masdar City.
But Masdar City offers as well Restaurants and Cafes such as Jim’s Kitchen Table. That is where we stopped. Jim’s Kitchen Table is a Italian/ International Restaurant that as we houses an own Bakery and a Retail store for some of their goods. The place looks stunning from the inside. Very cozy with its huge sofas where you can sit and relax with a lovely cappuccino. Or you sit on the upper level and enjoy the view over the Restaurant. If you got kids you will be happy to know that there is a kids play area as well where your kids can play around while you relax. Awesome. If you look around a bit more you will realize the lights are kitchen items, a pot upside down for example. Pretty cool as well. (check out the pictures in the gallery below)
The menu comes a bit different here on a board. A pretty cool idea I haven’t seen before like this. Studying the menu we decided to get a water bottle, a vanilla shake, the grilled chicken breast and the Salmon Fillet with Wasabi mashed potatoes. The service staff was super helpful and explained the items they had. Shortly after ordering the drinks came and sipping on the Milkshake I found this one probably the best Vanilla Shake I ever had. The flavor was just amazing.
The main courses came soon in time as well and the grilled Chicken Breast I had was tasting really good. The chicken was tender and grilled to perfection, in combination with the sides this dish was a delight. The Salmon Fillet with wasabi mashed potatoes that my wife had was really good to. I had never tasted wasabi mashed potatoes but they are really tasty, I could not have imagined that before. Given they own bakery and the nice looking selection of cakes we had decided to take as well a Strawberry Cheesecake slice to share between us. As well here the the taste was amazing. We both agreed that this was better than any other cheesecake we had so far in the UAE. Jim’s Kitchen Tablehas really pushed boundaries here.
Value for money wise we paid 166AED for our order which is totally fair considering what you get here. Jim’s Kitchen Table is definitely worth a visit even for the little hunger or take away. While we walked out I had a look on the fresh breads they are selling and took 6 little baguettes with us which came in on 2AED each, as well more than reasonable. If you have not been yet to Masdar City and/or Jim’s Kitchen, make sure to try them out! We will be back soon as luckily it is almost located on our way home. In case you need directions to Masdar City just follow the link to the website down in the contact section!

super Friendly, paying lot of attention
a hidden secret a bit out of Abu Dhabi, but so worth it.
Bosporus has opened their second Full size Restaurant this week at the Wafi Mall in Dubai. We have been already down for a visit and checked out the new location. First impression: This place is huge. More impressive even is the look when you are coming from the Valet Parking. The area looks really cool with the Restaurant on the first floor.
The inside with the wooden floor and the very cool ceiling looks really high class and very stylish. Certainly an upgrade to the one on the Jumeirah Beach Road. You got a balcony as well where you can smoke Shisha if you fancy to. We had decided to sit rather inside due to the hot weather.
We started the order with a bottle of water, a Vanilla Milkshake and a Mango and a Strawberry juice. The Vanilla Milkshake that I had had a very nice flavor and has the power to make you addicted to it. Rarely I had a milkshake that tasted so good. The Strawberry juice not only looked good but as well tasted very good, same can be said about the Mango juice.
As a starter we ordered the Mini Lahmacun, rather than one big one you get with the Mini Lahmacun’s four pieces which are easier to share, specially if you are with more people. The Lahmacun came not really as a starter but together with the main course, but nevertheless it was super tasty and for me a must order item. If you visit Bosporus, make sure you order the Lahmacun, else you are really missing out on something.
Main course we ordered the Iskender Kebab, a chicken Doner Durum, a mixed Grill and a Kuzu Tandir. Prepare some time with you if you visit Bosporus, everything is made fresh upon order and that takes a bit, not that we felt boring, but you might plan your visit with some extra time, it is well worth it. The main courses came relatively soon and the looks of the food where stunning. If the taste would only be half as good as the looks we still would have a superb dinner. But the taste was definitely matching the look and my Iskender Kebab was amazing. The lamb was tasty and very soft and scrumptious.
The Doner Durum (chicken) came cut in halfs and as well was lovely. The chicken was plenty inside and tasteful. The mixed Grill is a lot of items and I tried quite some and all were brilliant. Specially the slightly spicy chicken Kebab was awesome. The Kuzu Tandir (Lamb) came with potato and was a delight. Overall we could not have been more happy with the mains we had chosen. The amount was just right and not too much or too less, a perfect arrangement.
Of course we couldn’t go without trying out the desserts, so we picked a Sutlac and a Kunefe for this. Again, as well this is freshly made, so bring some time in order to enjoy everything that Bosporus has to offer. The Sutlac was superb tasting and had a savory sweet flavor. I did not try they Kunefe as I was too full already, but I was told that there was nothing to complaint on that one either.
Bosporus in the Wafi Mall is my new favorite Turkish Restaurant. It has enough space that you probably never need to bother how full it might be and the ambiance is simply perfectly chic and still relaxing. We enjoyed our dinner out very much and will definitely return to try out some other items of the long menu. Value for money wise we had been on around 500AED for three persons with starters and all around which is a fair price and quite reasonable in my opinion.

Restaurant Review: Bosporus , Wafi Mall
Easy to find, great style, superb ambiance
Friendly, helpful, always there
An amazing place with great food. My new favorite Turkish Restaurant.
We had been out today to try out Wingsters in the Dubai Marina. I had heard a lot of good feedbacks from several people so it was time to try out ourselves. Originally we planned it last evening, but due to the impossibility to get a parking anywhere around the same area I gave up and tried it again this afternoon – with success. It was early afternoon and the Restaurant was not too busy when we arrived. Originally we wanted to sit outside , but it was still too hot for that, so we moved inside.
The interior is simple but stylish. I liked particularly the bench which goes all around and the Wallpaper with some Gangsters on it. The whole Gangster theme is pretty well done. Even the staff is wearing the cool hats and similar hats you can even find in the lightning. If you read their menu the story behind the Theme is explained there.
[pullquote]At Wingsters there is no time for baloney! We offer great tasting food with a themed atmosphere and the protection of the mafia when needed.[/pullquote]
Well, we haven’t seen the Mafia during our visit, but we had been able to place an order, so we ordered the Sweet Potato Fries as starters and the 8 wings as well as the 5 MA-FI-A-Bone wings, both ordered with the Machine Gun Kelly sauce. Additional I ordered The Escobar burger.
The Sweet Potato Fries where superb, nothing much more to say about them, but they are really good. The 5 MA-FI-A-Bone wings which I ordered with the Machine Gun Kelly sauce had been as well perfect. The sauce was a delight and complements the the wings brilliantly, though I found it still quite some spicy, but in range. The Escobar burger was very good as well and overall there is nothing to complaint about here at Wingsters.
Verdict: If you like Wings in any flavor, this is the place to visit. We will definitely return once we starve for Wings or a good classic burger!

Simple but cool interior, love the all around benches
Very caring and helpful
If you like Chicken Wings this is a must visit place.
We had again been to The Souq at Umm Suqeim. Last time I tried out Meat Me There. While doing so I had seen that just next door is a Shawarma Shop, La Vita Shawarma, and this one we wanted to try out today.
It is not a huge Restaurant per se, but you can sit outside and have a really nice view over the Harbor and you can even see the Burj Al Arab Hotel close by. Best time is probably evenings after sunset, but we had been there at midday. They do have a small but good selection of Chicken and Beef Shawarmas in various configurations as well as Hallomi, Grilled Veggies, Potato Chilli and Falafel.
We went the classic way and ordered a Beef Mushroom and Cheese Shawarma as well as a Chicken Buffalo and Ranch Sauce Shawarma. Additional to that we ordered some drinks and Steak Cut Fries. The Chicken Shawarma was really good and I liked my choice of Buffalo & Ranch Sauce. The Beef one was perfect as well and the beef itself was very tender.
This is surely a cool spot to hang out at evenings and eat some Shawarmas while watching the sunset. Only point for criticism would be that they have no big bottles of water and not Shawarma Platter. But that is not really critic is it? We will come back here for sure, but not during mid day 😀 .

If you want a Shawarma with a view, this is the place to go..
We had been trying the newly opened Five Guys in the Dubai Mall. The First Five Guys in the Middle East. If you don’t know Five Guys, they are a US born Burger Chain operating plenty of Stores in the US, Canada and UK. The Five Guys have been born as family business and all 5 Guys are still involved in certain roles in the business. Of course the amount of stores operating are not family owned, but majorly franchised.
We tested out the first Restaurant located on the lower Ground-floor of the Dubai Mall last night. First impression: Looks great. second Impression: Again waiting lines… (Jollibee still in mind). The Restaurant is kept very clear with white and red as dominating colors. The whole atmosphere is really nice and you can as well sit outside and view the Dubai Fountain while eating.
Waiting in line was luckily not really a big deal, and after only a short waiting time we could place our order. The menu is quite easy to overview. You can choose between Hamburger or Cheeseburger and both are available as well in Little versions. You can have two different sorts of Hot Dogs (All Beef and Cheese Hot Dog) and 3 different types of Sandwiches plus you can of course have fries which come either in Five Guys Style (Salty) or Cajun.
Sounds not like too much choice right? Wrong. You can customer make your Burger or Hot Dog with 15 different toppings. So you get what you really want. The normal Burger has as standard a double patty which is juicy and very tasty, but it really makes you full, so if you are not having the big hunger, better get the Little version. I found the buns at Five Guys being a bit sweeter than most normal buns I had on burgers around. But that is nothing negative. The burger in itself (the way I liked it ordered) was simply amazing and for me as of now the best burger in the UAE.
The Hot Dog which I had was as well awesome. Tasty beef, soft bread, great and tasty ingredients. I am normally not a fan of Hot Dogs at all, but this one is awesome and I would order it again and again and again. We had as well ordered Five Guys Style fries, these are coming as standard a bit salty, but that is the way I like them. They have been really tasty, but paired with a burger you need to be very hungry to finish them.
Another thing you get is complimentary peanuts that are offered for consumption close to the order area. I am not a peanuts fan, but if you are this will surely give you something. We ordered as well two Milkshakes (Chocolate with Whipped Cream and Vanilla withot) Needless to say, as well the Shakes where great. So is there really nothing to complaint? Basically no. But. The presentation of the Burger when you get it wrapped in Aluminum foil is really not stylish. Sure it keeps your burger warm, but that could be done better in my opinion.

Stylish, comfortable, nice view if you sit outside
Best Burgers, Fries and Hot Dogs in Town. Not to be missed
very friendly and patiently explaining the order options
Couldn't be better. If you fancy Burgers do yourself a favor and visit Five Guys..
We had been out to try the Barca Club located on the Palm Jumeirah the other day. It is located between Shoreline 9 and 10 and located on the beach side. If you don’t know it you cannot really see anything from the road that would let you know there is a quite nice place behind. You can utilize the free parking in Shoreline 9 as well to visit as the parking in front is quite full.
We sat outside and had been very lucky with a not too hot evening. The setting is really nice and enjoyable. The look over the garden and Pool is really nice. The menu is not too huge, but it is easy to pick something you like. We went for a Southwestern Starter Platter which got some Onion Rings, Sliders, Chicken Wings and Calamari on it. This one was really nice and I liked all of it. As main we got a Barca Burger, another set of Sliders, the Fish and Chips and Black Pepper Beef. I loved the Barca Burger, it was really tasty and huge. It came with french fries in a can which had been very tasty as well. The Fish and Chips where Ok and as well a really big portion. The Black Pepper Beef which came with rice was good too.
Overall we found Barca Club a real nice hidden place. The items we ordered were tasty and the service was really friendly and helpful. Will surely go there again , maybe not in summer, but surely in winter to enjoy the outside seating.

We had visited Tike -Tate of Istanbul at The Beach in JBR the other day. I had seen Tike long time ago but never realized it served actually Turkish cuisine until I stumbled on it on Zomato. The last time passing by we had time to try them out.
Tike has a pretty nice ambiance, the inside has relaxing Sofas as well as big round tables for bigger groups. We decided to sit outside which gives you a nice overview over the beach as well. If you can try to sit upstairs outside and you will have an even better view.
Tike offers quite some variety on their menu which made it harder to choose from for us. After going back and forth through the menu we decided to go for Lahmacun as starter (not listed in the starter menu but we ordered it like that) a Lamb Doner Kebab and Kuzu Incik (Lamb Shank). The Lahmacun was the best I ever had here in the UAE.
The Lamb Doner Kebab was coming with Rice and grilled Tomato as well as with a very spicy chili and sauce. The Lamb was not too dry and really good, The bread was not authentic turkish but OK. I to still prefer burgul over the white rice but that is just me, the rice however was OK as well. The Kuzu Incik was very soft Lamb and very good. The french fries it came with are crunchy and the capsicum matches the total packages greatly.
Value for money vise Tike is not extraordinary expensive. You are on the same level as a Bosporus or Turkish Village but in my opinion in a nicer surrounding. We paid 223AED for 2 which is in range.
Restaurant Review: Tike - Taste of Istanbul , The Beach
Relaxing, Comfortable, stylish
our choice of orders were excellent
Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable
a super located, great tasting and friendly serving Restaurant. Recommended
We had been around the Trade Center Area today and as we planned to visit IKEA later on we thought it is better to eat before. The other day while passing by I had seen that a Chickenow Premiere had opened directly next to the Emirates Tower Metro Station on Sheikh Zayed Road. Today was a good chance to pass by and try it out. Parking is not easy, but if you park in the road behind the towers you should have no problem.
The Restaurant is not huge but quite stylish and cozy and even offers an outdoor seating which we have chosen to use. There is no table service so you have to go in and order on the counter. First thing I spotted on the menu: Build your own Burger. Great! I love this option. So I went for a Fried one with Tomato, Lettuce. Raw Onion, Capsicum, BBQ Sauce and Extra Cheese. The Burger was stunning, despite my simple choice I was stunned by the great taste. The Bun was not too soft and the chicken was very tasty.
Additional we ordered the Tender Combo for 2 which includes 6 chicken tenders served with Grandma sauce, coleslaw, texas bread , french fries and 2 drinks. We added on top mashed potato. If you expect a chicken a la KFC or Texas Chicken you are miles away from what you get here. The Restaurants says of itself they have the worlds best tenders. And after trying them this is not really easy to argue with. They are perfectly super crispy on the outside but still tender and soft in the inside which in combination with the grandma sauce is a real delight.
Price wise we paid all in all 83AED which I find is very reasonable for what you get. We will certainly go back there no matter how difficult parking is. If you want good chicken than there is no way around Chickenow!
