Level 4 Parking is now open at the Mall of the Emirates!

I have hated going to the Mall of the Emirates by car in the last months thoughout the construction. Parking was annoying to me and I spend ages just looking for parking and driving behind others around.  These times seem to be over now with as Mall of the Emirates  is enhancing visitors’ experience by now offering additional 1, 300 parking spaces on level 4, as part of its strategic redevelopment, Evolution 2015. Now featuring a total of 7,200 parking spaces, Mall of the Emirates’ visitors can drive up to the new parking deck with roof-top shade protection and direct shopping access to the mall.

Additionally, works on the ground floor parking area are now complete with upper levels fully available to along with the a new taxi rank allowing forty additional taxis  located at Welcome Court 4, representing a total of eighty taxis places.

a visit to the annual Kempinski Stollen Charity Cake Sale…

We had been today to the annual Kempinski Mall of the Emirates Christ Stollen Charity Cake Sale inside the Mall of the Emirates. Every year in December the Kempinski Hotel is selling Stollen for Charity where all proceeds are donated to the Dubai Center for Special Needs which is a lovely thing.

You could get a slice for 5AED, half a leaf for 50AED or a full one for 100AED. We have chosen to take a full one despite being much to big for ourselves. But with the good reason behind it it was no doubt to get it.

Stollen is so to day a fruit cake containing dried fruit and often marzipan and covered with sugar, powdered sugar or icing sugar. The cake is usually made with chopped candied fruit and/or dried fruit, nuts and spices. Stollen is a traditional German cake, usually eaten during the Christmas season, when it is called Weihnachtsstollen or Christstollen.

Here a few pictures from the Event:

Restaurant Review: Cheesecake Factory, Mall of the Emirates

We had been quite good in time yesterday for the Movie Premiere of “The Hunted” so we visited the Cheesecake Factory for Dinner. We had not been there since ages so it was time for going again. We had been lucky as it was not too crowded and could easily get a table.

The huge menu they serve makes it really not easy to decide what to get. But after some time checking we ended up going for the Calamari as starter and a Steak Diana and a Hibachi Steak for the main course.

It took not long and we got the Calamari. This portion is huge. You could certainly take it as a main course and would not leave hungry. The dip it comes with was superb as well.  The Steaks came shortly after my Steak Diane was brilliant. The Mushrooms and sauce paired with the mashed potato and super tasty beef is a delight. The same I can be said about the Hibachi Steak.

The down side was that due to the huge portion of the starter and as well of the main courses there was no space left with us for getting one of the fantastic cheesecakes as a dessert.  Value for money wise it is absolutely OK. You pay for what you get. and what you get is good.

But we will be back and will leave the starter away to keep some space.

Review: IHOP Restaurant, Mall of the Emirates

300px-IHOP_logo_svgWe had been in the Mall of Emirates today and got a little hungry when we decided to stop at the IHOP Restaurant. I had never heard about it so we gave it a try.

First thing i found out looking at the menu was that they have a huge variety of pancakes. We nevertheless decided to go for something else. While I went for an Ice tea (which i should have not taken as it tasted horrible) and a Mega Cheeseburger my wife went for a potato soup and Crunchy Battered Shrimps. Together with the refillable drinks we paid 169AED which is OK.

Taste wise the Burger was really good and my wife was also happy with the soup and the battered Shrimps. Truly a place to visit again, specially for breakfast…

Review: Shake Shack , Mall of the Emirates

Shake-Shack-Logo1

We had been in the Mall of Emirates today and thought we just stop by at Shake Shack. We went for the Shack Burger, 1 one double and 2 normal ones, with fries and Pepsi. They sadly did not ask it the drink should be upsize so we just got small ones…

To be honest i don’t know what this Shake Shack hype is all about. The burgers are average and even thought the beef is really tasty they are nothing special. Gourmet Burger Kitchen or Hollywood Burger are in the same league but offer more value for the money…

The service concept with stand in line , order , get a pager and pick it up when it rings is OK but does not really give a charming atmosphere. The price is compared to what you get on the upper end of the scale and for me personally not worth it.

Review: Cheesecake Factory, Mall of the Emirates

cheesecakefactory logoas Doener Kebab in JLT is still not open we decided to go and try out the Cheesecake Factory in the Mall of Emirates. Compared to the one in the Dubai Mall this is really huge and so it was no surprise that we got a table immediately. Getting the menu the first thing came into my mind was that the choice is huge.

We went for the Chicken Caesar Salad as starter in small which was still huge and good for 2 persons. As main course we had a BBQ Salmon and a Smokehouse Burger with a Strawberry Cheesecake as dessert.

The Chicken Caesar was the best one i ever had so far in the Middle East. The Smokehouse Burger was brilliant as well and really huge and the salmon was tasty as well. All in all a great experience with perfect service and really good food. The price is reasonable and slightly above Friday’s & Co.
