Another World Record for Dubai. The organizers, Freedom Conservation, claim it is the highest-ever recorded bird flight from a man-made structure. The live view was broadcasted on a huge screen out the Dubai Mall where we had seen it live.
How did it reach there you might think as it doesn’t have a Heli pad? Watch the video below and smile…
- Canon Eos 650D
- Sigma 18-200mm lens shot at 63mm
- 1/50 sec at f/5.6
- ISO 3200

We had visited today At The Top Sky at Burj Khalifa, the new Observation Deck on the 148th floor and with this once again the highest Observation deck in the world with 555 meters height.
The complete journey starts different you used to know it if you had been At The Top on the 124th floor before. Once checked in you are escorted to the Sky Lounge where you will wait for your turn being served dates and Arabic coffee meanwhile.,,
From there you are leaving in a group of 10 together with a personal guide to a separate elevator going to level 125 and bypassing the waiting folks going to 124.
Once on 125th floor you are swapping Elevators to reach 148. Reaching the final destination you are welcomed with a selection of juices and sweets to enjoy your stay. Biggest obvious difference to the124th floor is you have seating. You got a nice lounge and as well lounge chairs next to the windows, inside and outside to chill and enjoy your time. By the way, as per the personal guide that brought us up your time is limited to exactly 30 minutes. But as nobody is monitoring your time nobody really cared that we had been there way longer…
The views are great on the outside, but the weather was not perfect today so taking cool pictures was not working. But maybe the next time. Another thing located on the 148th floor is a pioneering concept in interactive experiences with a life-size screen that envelops you as you explore different corners of the Emirate. Pretty cool. If that is not enough for you you have as well the option to buy some articles in the exclusive shop on this floor…
Once done you will go again down to the 125th floor where you can stay as long as you want. Sadly there is no outdoor terrace here, just windows which make good pictures impossible. But nevertheless the views are enjoyable, specially as it is not as crowded as the floor below. This mainly comes through the price tag which is 125 to 150AED depending on the time you go for At The Top on the 124th floor but 400AED for the At The Top Sky experience inluding 148th and 125th floor…
Once you are back down to the ground floor you can have a look through the new Behind the scenes exhibition of Burj Khalifa while it was build. This ends up at The Café which is the perfect spot to unwind after your visit. The Café offers a contemporary café experience amidst a chic ambience. Glass table tops complement the urban inspired and stylish décor. Located on the ground floor, the café offers sumptuous treats and a range of signature beverages.
So is the extra money worth it? Difficult to say. But for a once in a lifetime visit it probably is. Would I go again? No I wouldn’t. But I said the same after my very first visit to At The Top back in 2010 and had meanwhile been 6 times there… So never say never.

Starting today Burj Khalifa is having an additional Observation Deck on the 148th floor. Reason for this is probably that it was not any longer the Worlds highest Observation deck…
This gives you as well access to the 125th floor which is housing the “Dubai – A Falcon’s Eye View” A new attraction a that allows visitors to witness Dubai with an entirely unique perspective. They can go on a virtual tour across prominent destinations of Dubai, hovering above the city like a falcon.
The observation deck of Burj Khalifa will be open from 28th of June onwards open Daily from 16:00 – 01:00 on occasion the occasion of Ramadan. Tickets can still be booked online via the official website for 125AED each. (LINK).
A few days I wrote about the mysterious structure fitted on top of Burj Khalifa. Well, turned out that it was designed just for another World Record set in Dubai.
Soul Flyers World Champions Fred Fugen and Vince Reffet took the very first jump off Burj Khalifa, 828 meters tall, on Monday, April 21, 2014, claiming the new Guinness World Record title of the Highest Base Jump from the Tallest Building. The event was sponsored by Skydive Dubai.
A really amazing stunt and a geat video.
“On behalf of the entire team and myself, I would like to thank Sheikh Hamdan nin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council for giving us the opportunity in making this project a reality. Skydive Dubai has become a pioneer in regards to aerial sports and will continue to strive in setting more new world records.” said Nasser Al Neyadi, President of the Aero Sport Federation and Chairman of Skydive Dubai.
