HRG has published its Interim Hotel Report for the first half of 2016 stating where staying overnight is certainly no bargain:
Moscow continues to dominate as the world’s most expensive city for the 12th consecutive year. A slight fall in average rate in GBP was effected massively by the large movement in the exchange rate, which saw a modest 3.14% fall in GBP translated into a large 10.64% rise in local currency. 21 of the top 50 cities have seen an average room rate increase (23 cities saw room rates increase in the 2015 report), showing uncertainty continuing to impact global markets. 23 cities saw a decrease in average room rates and six cities remained the same.
Interesting is that with Frankfurt a german City makes it into the Top20 being just slightly cheaper then Dubai in the average cost for a Hotel night. Abu Dhabi is considerably cheaper at only 133€ average price. Among the Top20 cities are a total of seven european ones. Four are from the United States.
