Restaurant Review: BOCA , GATE VILLAGE 6 – DIFC

We had been out the other day to visit BOCA. Located in the middle of Dubai’s busy financial center BOCA serves a great selection of dishes of the Mediterranean coastal regions of France, Italy and Spain.  You have the option to sit inside in a really nice and classy bar themed ambiance or in the adjoining open terrace area.

We went there around 7pm so perfectly in time for Aperitivo which means  Pintxo Time.  In this time (daily 6pm-8pm) you can get 5 Pintxos, which basically are a variety of tapas, together with a selection of Spanish wines, cocktails and beer. The Pintxos selection changes depending on what season it is and what is available in the market. On our visit 10 different Pintxos were available to chose from. We had first chosen 5 out of the list which sounded interesting to us.  The concept BOCA has is similar to a sharing concept, that means all the dishes are portioned equally and served as soon as they are ready, which I find very refreshing.

After having had the first 5 Pintxos and a Sangria we had been so impressed with the tapas that we decided to order as well the remaining 5 ones of the menu.  None of them was average and the presentation as well as the taste was simply great and delicious.  Having had as well a short look in the normal menu plenty of other very interesting dishes flagged up. We went for another order and asked for the Roasted Duck Breast as well as for a Mascarpone Creme Brulee. The Roasted Duck was a delight and the not too spicy Harissa Sauce matched the total composition. The Mascarpone, almost as expected, was as well brilliant and alone would be a reason to come back….

No matter if you go there to have a few drinks after work, the start for a party night or just a relaxing hang out with friends, BOCA is an ideal place to relax, have fun or party.  And if you fancy to have a bit privacy or a a wine tasting you have as well the option to use The Cellar. The Cellar is so to say the heart of BOCA and home to the sommelier-selected collection of more than 200 labels showcasing the best of French, Spanish and Italian vine culture.

Just walking down the stairs makes you believe you are somewhere in old Europe with its rustic charm and overwhelming  setting. A truly one of a kind place here in the UAE same as the whole concept of BOCA. After having spend some time there I can find zero negative things to say. From the the super friendly and helpful service to the superb music played, from the exceptional cool Wine Cellar to the Moss walls on the Toilet (yes you read right), this place is truly unique and amazing.  There is no doubt we will go back soon and try out the other items on their food and drinks menu.

Price wise you are paying a reasonable amount for the great quality you get.  You can get for example a selection of 5 Pintxos with a drink for 75AED or 10 Pintxos with a Sangria jug for 200AED. Not bad at all and I can promise you, once you have been there you will immediately start planning your next visit, and that is what we are doing now.
