Movie Review: The Wedding Ringer

We had been at the Reel Cinemas at The Beach last night to see The Wedding Ringer starring Kevin Hart and Josh Gad. The Wedding Ringer

The Plot in short: Doug Harris (Josh Gad) is a lovable but socially awkward groom-to-be with a problem: he has no best man. With less than two weeks to go until he marries the girl of his dreams (Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting), Doug is referred to Jimmy Callahan (Kevin Hart), owner and CEO of Best Man, Inc., a company that provides flattering best men for socially challenged guys in need. What ensues is a hilarious wedding charade as they try to pull off the big con, and an unexpected budding bromance between Doug and his fake best man Jimmy.

Doug Harris: I want my real life to be as fun as the one I made up!

I loved the Trailer on this movie which made me really want to see it. Luckily the Trailer in this case is not better than the movie like so often on comedies. Josh Gad is really a perfect cast for the role of Doug, you start feeling for him directly from the start. Kevin Hart as well is brilliant. The chemistry between the two of them helps the movie quite well over a pretty much predictable story but there are still a few surprises on how some points are executed. There are some great laugh-out-loud moments, even with a couple of cringe-worthy ones which made me have a lot of fun watching it.

Verdict: This is a real feel good comedy that gives some nice views into male friendships which is definitely worth watching. I recommend to watch this on the big screen as long as you can. The Wedding Ringer is showing in UAE cinemas since yesterday.
