WhatsApp now able to be used on your Desktop…

Rumors had been there since quite some time already that the Facebook-owned and very popular messenger service WhatsApp would soon be available on your computer via internet. But only today it was officially confirmed and launched.

WhatsApp for Desktop only works on Google’s Chrome Browser so far.  Another limitation is that it only works for Anrdoid, BlackBerry and Windows Phone so far. Not for the iPhone…

And this is how it works:

To connect your web browser to your WhatsApp client, simply open https://web.whatsapp.com in your Google Chrome browser. You will see a QR code — scan the code inside of WhatsApp, and you’re ready to go. You have now paired WhatsApp on your phone with the WhatsApp web client. Your phone needs to stay connected to the internet for the web client to work, and please make sure to install the latest version of WhatsApp on your phone.

whatsappOn my BlackBerry Passport despite having had the latest version installed I could not find the Whats App Web option. Deleting WhatsApp and reinstalling fixed this issue.

Once connected you are good to go and chat away, send pictures or even give the website access to your computers camera and take pictures from it…

If you are a user of are a user of a BlackBerry Passport, Classic or Porsche P9983 having a save connection to your phone and BBM via notebook, computer or a tablet is yesterdays news…

The interesting thing on the WhatsApp way would be to understand how secure it is, but little is known about this. WhatsApp is having no information on their website. That being said my Messenger of choice remains BBM.
