We have been trying out the Dubai Tram today morning. Easiest way was parking at the Dubai Marina Metro station which is directly connected to the Tram station.
First big difference to the Metro: You have no barriers where you have to use your NOL card to get in. There are ticket scanners but nothing would theoretically stop you from not doing so.
We took the ticket for 2 Zones to drive up and down the full route which was on 10AED per person for Silver Class. For a Friday morning there where already quite some people having the same idea and hitting to the tram. I thought it would be empty to be honest and so we had to keep standing for the first 4 stations till some people left.
The tram is way smaller than the Metro, though comfortable. The Tram is not really fast, top speed I had seen on the speedometer was 45kmh. The stations are not air conditioned and big enough to keep quite some people in.
The Tram is great to use if you are living in the Marina or JBR area and you are not having a car or just don’t want to use it. It is great to hit with guest to the Monorail towards the Palms Atlantis Hotel as it is directly connected with the Monorail station.
