Movie Review: Captain America: The Winter Soldier

captain-america-the-winter-soldier-posterWe had been at the Reel Cinemas at the Dubai Mall yesterday to see the premiere of Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

The Winter Soldier starts 2 years after the last Avengers movie.

The Plot in short:

Steve Rogers (Captain America) lives in Washington, D.C., continues to work for the espionage agency S.H.I.E.L.D., and struggles to adapt to contemporary society. After meeting and befriending war veteran and PTSD counselor Sam Wilson on a morning jog, Rogers is called to help save a S.H.I.E.L.D. vessel from Algerian pirates. Aboard, he discovers fellow agent Natasha Romanoff extracting data from the ship’s computers, making him question whether he should trust S.H.I.E.L.D. At the agency’s headquarters, the Triskelion, Nick Fury introduces Rogers to Project Insight, three Helicarriers linked to spy satellites and designed to preemptively eliminate threats. From here the fun begins…

Steve Rogers: Before we get started, does anyone want to get out?

First off, the action and fight scenes in the movie are just awesome and there is plenty of action to keep you entertained throughout the entire movie. There is as well  enough humor to balance all the action. In this part you get to see way more of Nick Fury, and he was just great and cool in this. Black Widow as well is way more visible in this movie.  I have really enjoyed the story as well. There were a few twists; some unexpected, some more expected. And the reveal of the unexpected twists in the final third were amazing. The story is not just about Captain America and the Winter Soldier, there are darker forces at play and causes the Captain to ask dangerous questions.

The acting as expected from Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans and Samuel L. Jackson was excellent. Robert Redford was impeccable in his role and he was worth the effort that Marvel put in to get him on board. The rest of the cast all play their roles extremely well and Marvel have done the right thing by bringing the Falcon in the movie, which was played well by Anthony Mackie.

It seems Marvel just can’t do bad movies. Go and watch in on the big screen.
