Ordering with Souq.com? Never again… WTF

i had ordered a Canon Eos 650D via Souq.com on the 30th of January. Delivery should have been between the 3rd and 8th of February, which would be tomorrow. Today morning i checked the delivery status and found still not shipped Coming home now i just seen that the order has been cancelled because the item is out of stock.

well it takes 7 days to find out you cannot deliver an item you are selling online? That is really b*st. I can not recommend shopping at souq.com at all after this experience. The seller is not honest and the whole principles of the souq.com system are highly doubtful.

Looking around a bit more i found that the same seller (honey777) is offering the same camera again, but now for more money. So out of stock was just a lie. WTF. Online shopping here in the Middle East is far below the experience in Europe and North America….

I just called the Souq Customer support. They are sadly as well a joke and told me the money will  be refunded within one week. He could not explain as well how the seller has the same article online again. I will push this to consumer protection tomorrow… Let’s see what happens..

  3. I tried to order from souq.com for my mother’s birthday. As I live in the UK I had trouble with the payment page , as I assumed it could be because my card has been registered in a UK address. I contacted them hurriedly in order to resolve the payment for order in time for my mothers birthday. Within minutes i received an email to say thank you for opening up a case . Valued Customer blah blah blah and at the same time another email to say I had not responded to the case on time so its closed. This has happened 4 times on every enquiry whether selling or buying on souq.com. Joke of a website . Fancy web page but nothing more ! please do not bother with this site .

  5. yeah, it’s a sad site. I ordered from them a Note 3 with cash on delivery mainly because I heard some bad things about them. When it took too long, I cancelled but still their kept calling me and sending SMS to pick up the package (I already ordered from alshop later on). Despite their 3-day free return policy, they refused to acknowledge the cancellation/return and then they told me I couldn’t order from them anymore. So said I can’t order from a scam site 🙁

  6. souq.com is a thief company, they show something and supply something else and returning the items is a nightmare and moreover getting your money back is impossible … it’s gone for good once you pay online !

  7. Ordered a phone in Aug 28, 2014, paid through CC. 5 days have passed, item not shipped yet. Customer service says wait till we update you or cancel order. Item still shows available on the website but at a higher price.
    Don’t know what will happen.

  8. Ordered a monopod a few months back i got it broken then returned it 4 weeks later by chasing an aramex dude cause they wouldnt come pick it up then im waiting for my 200 dhs back still on the line with them right now this sucks

  9. After the delivery of my laptop, I found there is no MS office. When I complained immediately they told they will contact the vendor and will come back after a week time since there was no response I called them again, they told the old complain is not registered, I have to make a new one, then I told the whole subject to the next person, for that he told he will check and complain, then I gone to my home country and and back by one month, I called them again and they told it is more than 1 month so I have to do online complaint, I done it, then the message came the reply will come in 48 hours, I called back after 3 days, they told to do it again as there was no complaint registered and there is no warranty or guarantee for these item you purchased from souq. So I will not recommend anybody to purchase any item from Souq,

  10. I bought an LG G2 from their site, which seemed as a good, but 2 months later, the phone stopped working. It got all heated up, the battery nearly exploded and the screen got bent from that.
    When i contacted customer service for the warranty claim via email, they informed me to return it and they will fix it or else refund the full price. Yet later when I called them, they refused to claim it under warranty for hardware maintenance, and said that their warranty only covers software! After arguments, they said they’ll pick it up, but it will take 2-4 weeks to be checked!!!
    I don’t know, but if you put a one year warranty and say that we’ll fix it within 7 days else we’ll refund it, that should be the case.
    Really really, bad after sales service, rude and the their warranty is just there to lure you in.
    Site to be avoided.

  11. i have bought blackberry Z10 from souq and i had few more days for warranty when i sent my product for warranty after 2-3 days they informed me that the handset was opened by third party and my warranty is now not valid since it is opened. i have never given my handset to any mobile shop and why would i do that when i still have warranty on my product. i was buying so many items from souq but now i know buying from souq is west of money when it comes to providing warranty services. and specially when you have very few days left for warranty.

    i am never gonna buy anything from souq disappointing website.

    1. can you recommend an online shop because I’m also planning to buy a phone and there are so many online shops here in Dubai and I don’t know which one is reliable in delivery and quality of products.

  12. I had purchased one laptop from Souq.com (Order No. 104292585849) on 19-Aug-2014. Specification was slightly different from what they had shown on their website. Hence, as per Souq’s 3 days return policy, I requested for return, just next day of delivery. I ordered another laptop from souq after paying again (thought that souq is a reputed company and would honor its return policy).
    First of all, they took almost one month to collect the laptop even after calling several times (almost 7 times). After collection the laptop, I didn’t receive refund for even one month. When I called souq.com, they said, laptop is not received by seller. Then, I gave all AWB nos. and they checked several times and finally agreed, that laptop was received.
    Still I didn’t receive refund after 7 months. I called many times and filed complains through their website. They said that payment is done to seller by mistake and they are trying to contact seller.
    Since, last seven months, they are providing same reply on several phone calls and emails. All the times, when I call, they say that their person will come back and they never call again and even doesn’t reply to the emails now.
    Three months back, I discussed with one senior person Mr. Abdul Raafey (critical Complain Dept). He registered the complain as critical (Ticket no: 1522257) but after 3months, souq is not able to solve their critical complain.
    I had bought many things earlier through souq.com but first time when its time to return, they are not respecting their own policy of return. I have wasted too much time in last seven months for calling and mailing souq.com, but they don’t even care about customers.
    This is really very disappointing service. Request you all to think twice before purchasing souq.com.

    1- Awesome_attitude
    2- absholding and his co-partners he has many accounts like abshold etc.
    3- realgoods
    4- usa.market

    Souq can be a better place if their management controls such abusive sellers

  14. ok I understand that everyone complains about souq.com but I noticed that most of the people who faced problems ordered quite large objects such as labtops , tablets cameras , etc… I just want to order bunch of books . is it still risky ? please answer my question .

    1. Make sure it’s printed by author or authorised publisher, you may receive copy taken from copier or water damaged, very risky thing in dubai ordering old books are books comes with bed bux eggs, so be careful………

  15. I’m very disappointed with my order. First point they were delay with delivery and when i got my order i was so pissed off. The screen protection was a cheap quality and the phone case itself was not fitting on my phone at all. Its small and i just threw out . So, i will never ever gonna order anything from souq.com and will advise my freinds to not do that . I dont ask them for my money back, its was not expencive but my oppinion is totaly changed .

  16. Hey, I recvd a defective item from souq.com. So, they had picked it from my house within a week and promised I would be returned my money. Its been approx 2 months and I havent recvd the money.
    So basically I have paid for an item which was returned but not refunded for the same. Can you advise on how I can escalate this?
    I have called and left them a million a complaints with no feedback at all.

  17. i myself had a bad experience at this company. i ordered an xperia z3 which everyone knows is a waterproof… now when i test it on a pool it does not seem to be what i paid for. i just took one shot then the screen went black. now the worst part is i called souq.com and demand a replacement for the phone because it is defective. but they refused to replace it or even repair it because they’re saying there warranty only covered the software not he hardware. Cmon, it is a defective product and i have the right to replace it with a good one. i pay for nothing, i just my money. i won’t buy anything to them again.. ever..

  18. I ordered a magic cube from souq and it was really delayed . But when i got it it was really a bad product and i could barely turn a face after applying force for 3 -4 seconds. i called their customer servce and they told that the item will be picked by the courier. I ordered through cash on delivery. so would i get full refund inculding for shipping when the courier will come to my house?

First of all, they don’t ship to my region but they NEVER informed me about this until they became ready with the delivery.Why keep an option for my region in the address if you don’t ship to my region. Second, they took away my Cash on Delivery option because THEY were not able to ship it to my region as if it was my fault.
    I would recommend everyone not to waste your money on their bull**** product and service.

When I called to customer care they had told me you package ? your laptop in which conditions you have taken and we will send an email ? then you print out and stich on the cartoon box our team will come you give him that box.but how I will get money refund they will refund or or chatting.what I will do.

  21. I have purchased one phone (HTC M8) and used only 2 week, got damaged and now they r saying they cannot give guarantee.
    First they collected my phone for Servicing ( Phone was in working condition) then they delivered after few days and went back with out saying anything and I try to open phone is not working.
    Friend Please don’t buy any thing from SOUQ. No 1 Cheating Company

  23. I just ordered canon 750d and when i received it and check the item, the card slot is damaged. So in less than 24hrs i returned the camera because they have 3days return policy and promised to refund my money. 2days later they told me that they received the item damaged so they cannot refund anymore. I was really dissapointed about their response. Now its my fault because that their item is defective. Now, they really return the camera but already damaged. Very wise from souq. Now i just wasted my 2thousand dirhams with a defective dslr camera from SOUQ!..

  24. I bought a tablet but factory seal was broken so they put souq seal on top to hide it and they refuse to hide it.they refuse to pay my money back and I’m never buying from them again.

  25. Chasing souq and their famous seller dod_uae for almost a month with no professional response from them. Souq keeps closing my cases and keep claiming that the item has been collected already.. and the seller / courier company keep scheduling a pick up and failing to come. i demanded a replacement, since it is their fault and not mine, plus they left me without an oven for a month, but they keep ignoring. i asked to speak with a manage- YEAH, good luck with reaching that level with them!!! so very extremely unprofessional, bunch of liars. i hope they close down so people will be saved from their scam.. I wish i read reviews before buying from them.

  26. I have bought Samsung galaxy note 7 from this site but i came to know about the fault in that phone which is well known, i have requested for return almost 15 days back, I’m keep calling customer service but not getting any response yet….Very bad service, feeling now as I made a mistake

  27. I have placed an order with souq.com of an item that was showing available stock (I ordered one only). The order was confirmed by Souq.com by email and SMS with a specific delivery date. Two days later I checked my account to see where the shipment is and discovered that the order is listed in my account as “cancelled”!. I called them and they said we are sorry but the item is out of stock! I told them but when I placed the order it said it’s available, they said “sorry”. The annoying and unethical part was that they kept my money in their bank account as available credit for me for future shopping on Souq.com!!! Can you believe?! I asked for an immediate reverse of the amount to my credit card account and explained to them that this behavior is illegal without prior consent of the client. They’ve never sent me an email notifying me that the order was cancelled (I was only getting emails about recommended items for me!!). They held my money without my consent or even knowledge (very crooked scheme they have there). Their ecommerce information system is a total mess. Their merchants are unreliable in terms of accuracy and quality. Overall, it was an uncomfortable experience dealing with souq.com and I recommend searching for your items on eBay or Amazon, and save yourself a lot of headache dealing with such an incompetent online marketplace.

  28. 23 november i ordered some phones, a tablet and some other things. It’s 14.12.2016 and the items are not shipped. I called them like 7 times and asked if there is a specific item that makes it hard for the order to get shipped. I had to ask them to tell me there is a damn car magnet that it’s making it not getting shipped. I asked them to cancel it, they told me they will do a request paper to cancel it. The next day i called another guy tells me that they have all magnets and it will be delivered. The next day i called some guy tells me that i have to cancel all items and i can not cancel just one item. If you check the website all my items are available, but of course on higher prices right now. Everytime i call they tell me it’s gonna happen very soon and that they apologyze.

I CAN SAY THIS IS MY FIRST BAD EXPERIENCE .I BOUGHT THIS PHONE AT NOVEMBER I USED IT FOR FOR MONTH.THEN IT HAD A COMPLAINT THAT IT WAS TURNING OFF AND ON.SO I CONTACTED THE SOUQ CUSTOMER CARE.THEY TOLD ME THAT THE COURIER SERVICE WILL BE TAKING MY PHONE WITHIN 4 DAYS.AS THEY SAID THEY TOOK THE PHONE AND I GOT THE PHONE AFTER REPAIRED AT JANUARY.WHEN I CHECKED MY PHONE I CAME TO KNOW THAT THE PHONE’S REAR CAMERA(FRONT CAMERA) WAS NOT WORKING.AND NOW I AM CLAIMING FOR THE SECOND WARRANTY. I NEVER EXPECTED THIS FROM SOUQ. I HOPE I WILL GET MY PHONE REPAIRED.

    Items delivered not what i ordered, returned them and still not received my refund (very slow process of follow-up)

    Items sent to wrong city by SMSA Express and still status shows that it is in that city. No one is there to inquire from SMSA that why they sent to wrong address.

    I requested for refund but around 2-months nothing have happened till this date.
    I conveyed my concern to both SMSA and SOUQ but complain is not resolved yet.
